Getting involved…

Lukewarm is no good. 

As a freshman coming into high school, you usually get an inside look of what it is going to be like. You hear about everything high school has to offer; maybe it’s more lunch choices, or the crazy high school parties, or the cute boys. You also get a ton of advice from the upper class-men, like what routes to take to get to class on time, how to pass classes, and the best advice I ever got: to be involved. Now you may be thinking, what does it mean to be involved? To be involved is defined as having a part of something, or being included. Freshman and sophomore year I brushed this term off of my shoulders and thought nothing of it. I went to the big rivalry football games, to homecoming, and dressed up for the few spirit weeks with my friends. After that 7th hour bell rang I went home, and I was never involved in my school until my Junior year. It didn’t even hit me until Junior year that these were the best years of my life, and I needed to make the most of them while I could. During Junior year I went to almost all of the football, basketball and volleyball games, oh and of course HOCKEY. I cheered my heart out at some of these games with my best friends by my side. Junior year was a year of new beginnings for me as I began to be “involved”. I joined the towns midsummer ambassador program, and I am currently running as a candidate. I am also more involved with my church, with a plan to go on a mission trip in three short months. Being involved has opened so many doors for me, and blessed me with amazing friends I wouldn’t have grown close with before. What I am trying to say is that you should never live a lukewarm life. Go out and do things, involve yourself, take chances. Step out of your comfort zone, you might surprise yourself. I did.
